Temple Emanuel of Baltimore - Artist in Residence Sept 2006- Dec 2016
Temple Emanuel was a Reform synagogue dedicated to the celebration of Jewish faith, thought and culture. They were committed to the worship of God, the study of our tradition and the translation of our beliefs into deeds of conscience.
Inspired by my Jubilation painting for the congregation, art became part of the mission statement of Temple Emanuel. Since my family joined Temple Emanuel in 2006, I volunteered as a lead artist on several major projects using art to express 21st century Reform visions of Judaism, to raise awareness on social justice issues and to help raise funds including: 2 murals with the 7th grade religious school class; forming TESCA ( Temple Emanuel Society of Cooperative Artists) with 18 members of the congregation creating high quality Judaica art in fabric, ceramics and paint; ceramic projects with the 7th grade religious school class; special Friday evening (Erev Shabbat) painting services; for the past 3 years, I have led 140 members of the congregation in The Sukkot Project, designing, painting building, and decorating a new Succah each year; in December 2007 we began the year-long Empty Bowls project - the entire congregation, along with several community partners, will be making bowls for sale to raise funds to fight hunger for the Renewing Life Family Center.
